The client
Zerve, a leading team collaboration software, offers cloud-based solutions primarily for data teams employing coding-first methods. Similar to how Figma has transformed design collaboration, Zerve’s platform revolutionizes data science and AI development. It provides a unified workspace that not only boosts code efficiency and accelerates data-driven projects but also uniquely supports the integration of multiple programming languages within a single canvas, enhancing flexibility and innovation in coding practices. This feature fosters seamless remote collaboration among engineering teams, allowing for a diverse and inclusive approach to project development. By streamlining workflows for AI and data science teams, Zerve enhances project effectiveness and efficiency with advanced data analysis tools and data visualization features.
Zerve’s Data Science Development Environment gives data science and ML teams a unified space to explore, collaborate, build, and deploy data science & AI projects. Impacting various tech sectors such as AI, cloud services (SaaS), data management, developer tools, and platform services, Zerve marks a significant advancement in these fields by improving productivity, project management, and collaborative working capabilities.
THE CHALLENGE
Zerve approached Ralabs with a specific request: to extend their team with skilled resources for enhancing their existing software solution and helping build their vision for the user interface (UI). The primary objective was to make the UI and user experience (UX) intuitive and efficient, especially for data scientists. This requirement emphasized not only the need for technical expertise but also the importance of integrating additional skilled resources through Team Augmentation to achieve these goals.
The project’s urgency was amplified by an upcoming critical demonstration at a major conference, adding pressure to deliver substantial improvements in a short timeframe.
There were many atypical problems that required a detailed study and a reevaluation of development and design approaches for this revolutionary product.
what was done
In response to Zerve’s project requirements, their team, supplemented by our engineers, began a structured development phase. This phase included an analysis of competitors, the design of the brand identity, user flows, a clickable prototype, and functionalities. The emphasis was on simplifying the solution for end-users, especially data scientists.
The collaboration fostered the development of a design characterized by a functional, condensed aesthetic and ample interactive space, responding to the client’s request for a workspace conducive to simultaneous engagement. This design approach prioritized usability and workflow efficiency, incorporating clean fonts and a clear workspace.
A minimal design system was established for Zerve, facilitating the validation and development of new user flows. This strategy ensured the final product was functional and user-friendly, showcasing the joint effort of Zerve’s team and our engineering support.
Implemented features
Developed to enhance brand recognition and improve the overall user experience. This system ensures a consistent and intuitive interface across the platform.
Implemented to efficiently handle user accounts, permissions, and subscription management. This feature streamlines the process of managing user access and roles within the system.
Integrated to facilitate seamless in-system financial transactions for both individual users and organizations. This feature ensures a secure and efficient payment process within the platform.
Implemented to enable users to connect to the database and directly run SQL queries from the Zerve App.
Additional features
- Developed assets service for use on the canvases by data scientists.
- Contributed to optimizing the UI performance with lazy loading.
- Fixes related to the core services and functionality extension.
