Senior DevOps (GCP) Engineer (part-time)

The project aims to modernize the way medical records are handled and transferred. They are addressing the issue of outdated and inefficient practices in patient data management, which often involve fax machines and can lead to lost or delayed information, unnecessary reordering of tests, and even malpractice claims.
The solution is to digitize the transfer and release of patient data, providing a more reliable and secure method of handling this critical information. This digital approach is intended to improve patient outcomes by ensuring that all relevant health data is readily available when and where it’s needed.
You will be part of a collaborative setup: the client’s team includes 5 highly skilled software engineers, a CTO, and an Engineering Manager. You will work closely every day to drive the project forward.
- Part-time (up to 60 hours per month)
- No fixed allocation (on-demand support model)
- The role requires occasional availability for sync meetings with the US team in the evening CET time slot (around 19:00–20:00)

Requirements and responsibilities
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Strong experience with Terraform / Terragrunt for Infrastructure as Code
- Experience with Kubernetes (deployment, scaling, and maintenance of services)
- Solid knowledge of Docker
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools)
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal and/or similar systems (e.g., Celery)
- Understanding of cloud-native architectures and microservices-based systems
- Nice to have: experience with CI/CD workflows in GCP environments
- Support and evolve existing infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Work with infrastructure defined via Terraform / Terragrunt
- Maintain and optimize Kubernetes clusters and deployments
- Set up and support CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions / Jenkins)
- Deploy and launch new services into production environments
- Support and operate Temporal workflows and workers, including hybrid deployment setups
- Contribute to migration efforts from Celery to Temporal
- Implement infrastructure changes to meet requirements from newly onboarded organizations, including security and compliance needs (e.g. integrating solutions such as Cloud Armor and other GCP security services)
- Handle ad-hoc infrastructure and release-related tasks from the team
- Support hybrid workload architecture (Kubernetes deployments, jobs, autoscaling, etc.)
- Assist with deployment and operations of both backend services (Python/Django) and frontend services (Vue.js running in Kubernetes)
