👋🏻 Hello, Fellow Tech Enthusiasts!

It’s right on time for updates on the tech market and Ralabs journey.

📊 Focus & Insights

  • Ralabs COO, Roman Rodomansky and Head of Engineering, Daniel Niaziiev, have visited South Summit in Madrid. At Ralabs we value face-to-face meetings and discussions, and such conferences are a perfect way to connect with like-minded individuals in software development. We have many trips planned ahead, so stay tuned.

👩🏼‍💼 HR Updates

  • 5 new team members joined Ralabs the previous month.
  • In honor of the International Children’s day, we hosted a special activity, inviting our employees to join the race with the little family members. We’ve also hosted a lecturer ‘Safe summer for all Kids’ by a pediatrician.

📈 Business Development

  • The anticipated Accessibility Compatibility Audit service page is finally live! Accessibility is crucial for making sure your product reaches everyone. You’ll find everything you need to know about it right here.
  • We’ve published one more insightful Case Study on Integrating Payment Gateway Solutions from Scratch for WayThru. The system successfully transitioned 500,000 users and attracted 1,000 new users. It offers greater flexibility with 6 payment providers and saves $3,000 monthly on infrastructure costs.
  • Even though we continue actively hiring in Ukraine, we’re exploring new regions for hiring, like – Croatia, Albania, Romania, etc.

💻 Coding Insights

  • Blink Shell helps you run Studio Visual Code edit with Vim, command line shell, etc all on your iPhone.
  • Use GitHub from the command line with this CLI dashboard – dlvhdr/gh-dash.
  • Cloudflare in front of Vercel can cause redirect loops with HTTPS conversion enabled. Disable Cloudflare’s HTTP to HTTPS conversion for your Vercel application to avoid “too many redirects” errors.
Read an interesting post about why Your API Shouldn’t Redirect HTTP to HTTPS.
  • Extension is a plug-and-play, zero-config, cross-browser extension development tool for browser extensions with built-in support for TypeScript, WebAssembly, React, and modern JavaScript.
  • iyaja/llama-fs – A self-organizing file system that uses llama 3 (basically LLM) to organize your files so you don’t have to.

🤖 AI Developments

  • Announced at WWDC 2024, Apple Intelligence is a new artificial intelligence platform built into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. It focuses on being a personal assistant that integrates seamlessly with your daily tasks.
  • Researchers have developed a model that enables computers to interpret and understand human emotions, utilizing principles of mathematical psychology. Read more here.
  • Using AI to decode dog’s vocalization – Researchers are exploring the possibilities of AI, developing tools that can identify whether a dog’s bark conveys playfulness or aggression.

📚 Books and Reading

  • June book recommendations are: ‘US Army Ranger Handbook’, ‘Empire: How Britain Made the Modern World’ by Niall Ferguson, and the Book Choice of the Month – ‘Good Arguments’ by Bo Seo.
  • In this recently revised edition of the U.S. Army Ranger Handbook, you can get the latest info on everything from understanding the basics of Army operations and tactics to discovering what makes a soldier with good leadership qualities and character.

The army is the king of BCP plans, as even the slightest mistake can have a very significant cost.

The book can be found on Amazon.

  • ‘Empire’ talks about how empires were built and then collapsed. It provides an interesting look at the motivations behind building empires in past centuries. In my view, imperialism in past centuries was largely driven by competition and rivalry between a small number of dominant powers.

The book can be found on Amazon.

  • Extremely interesting read on how and why to argue, and when and how to avoid unproductive arguments. The author, Bo Seo is a two-time world champion debater and former coach of the Harvard debate team.

The book can be found on Amazon.

💡 Thoughts

  • In 2024 AI development will more or less stay on the same level and there will not be any major breakthroughs. I think in the next few months we might see more startups trying to adopt the current AI tech and many investors funding them.

🔍 Other Noteworthy Mentions

  • Spreadsheet – This project, a nanoGPT pipeline packed in a spreadsheet, was created to help further understanding of how GPT works. All of the mechanisms, calculations, and matrices included are fully interactive and configurable, designed to help readers visualize the entire structure and data flow.
