Dedicated team behind the project
The client
Atlas Well is at the forefront of pioneering addiction prevention and recovery through technological innovation. Drawing inspiration from the Greek titan Atlas, symbolizing strength and endurance, their objective is to harness digital solutions to bolster individual and societal well-being.
Their key project involves a medical device designed to combat alcohol addiction. This device functions as a breathalyzer, randomly requiring the user to undergo a breath test to measure blood alcohol concentration. Should the test indicate an elevated alcohol level, the device automatically notifies a contact previously designated by the user.
THE CHALLENGE
Atlas Well faced operational limitations due to their development team’s location outside the EU. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) restricts access to personal data of EU residents from outside the EU. This essentially meant their non-EU team couldn’t manage the system data directly for engineering purposes, hindering deployments, releases, and bug fixes. That’s where Ralabs’ expertise came in – we provided the necessary support and solutions with our EU-based DevOps engineer.
what was done
To address Atlas Well’s challenges, our approach centered on service reliability engineering with the goal of enhancing the software’s reliability and adaptability. This strategy was crucial in ensuring Atlas Well’s users could trust the solution for its dependability.
Our efforts included providing a certified cloud engineer to:
- Set up the production environment with limited access according to the EU Data Processing Agreement Standard.
- Work with EU patient data in compliance with GDPR regulations.
- Ensure seamless integration and functionality of all system parts.
- Investigate and fix production bugs.
- Refine the deployment pipeline for efficiency.
- Address system load issues to improve performance.
- Strengthen security measures to safeguard the platform and ensure client systems’ GDPR compliance.
The engineer also oversaw the technical execution to guarantee the infrastructure’s scalability and robustness.
Implemented features
Additional features
- Enhancing production server reliability to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Identifying and troubleshooting bugs within the production environment to maintain software integrity.
- Managing and executing releases to the production environment to incorporate updates and improvements seamlessly.
- Implementing data governance and data management for patient data in compliance with EU DPA.
